Reeling In the Reds: An Exhilarating 5-Hour Fishing Excursion

It was another great day out on the water with Spencer for our 5-Hour Fishing Trip here on South Padre Island, TX. June is a prime time for fishing all around these parts, with the warming waters bringing the fish into the shallows. We met up at the usual spot in South Padre Island, got the gear loaded up, and headed out to chase some inshore and nearshore targets.

As soon as we got the lines in the water, the action started picking up. We worked some deeper structure with some jigging and light tackle, and Spencer was into a nice Redfish right away. That fish put up a great fight, making a couple nice runs before we were able to get it in the boat. Not too long after, he hooked into a feisty Spotted Weakfish that had the drag singing. We mixed it up, drifting some flats and working the seawall with a mix of live bait and artificials, and the fish kept coming. Spencer was a natural, setting the hook hard and keeping good pressure on every fish.

The weather was perfect—partly cloudy with a light breeze, and the water was in great shape, making it easy to spot baitfish and target the holes and structure where the gamefish were holding. In between bites, we got to take in the South Padre scenery and enjoy the peaceful vibe of being out on the water.
